Challenging breach of privilege motion by Maharashtra Assembly in Arnab Goswami’s plea

Recently, the most occurred name on different social networking sites, on media, newspaper and everywhere else was Republic TV and its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami. It’s been since the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput the channel is on peak raising its publicity and gaining lot of viewers attention. Though there were lot of allegations imposed on channels due to its exaggeration of depicting news, defamation, fake new and TRP scam which were not yet proved to be true.
Recently a plea was file by the Republic TV Editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami, challenging the breach of privilege motion against him by Maharashtra Assembly and Legislative Council. Mr. Harish Salve appearing on behalf of Arnab Goswami argued that the privilege of an assembly could not be against someone outside of the house, and breach of privilege can only lie when there is hindrance, obstruction, interference by a person and interfered with performance of duties or working of the house.
The motion was moved against Goswami by Shiv Sena MLA Prata Sarnaik accusing, Goswami of using derogatory language against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP President Sharad Pawar in relation to in action by the State Government. The motion was moved in Legislative council by party legislator. A notice was sent to Arnab Goswami, stipulating he had breached the privilege of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra. A similar motion has been moved against Actress Kangana Ranaut for her allegedly derogatory remark against the Maharashtra Government comparing the State to POK.
