Maharashtra Police arrests Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami

The press is considered to be fourth pillar of democracy and is entitled to freedom of speech and expression. Why are the questions being raised on the press and why are their voices stopped as they are the ones who demand questions from the government on behalf of people if any injustice takes place.
Recently Mr. Arnab Goswami Editor-in-chief of Republic TV was arrested in abetment to suicide case. It was alleged that Mumbai Police barged in Arnab’s house in morning to summon him without giving him any prior notice about it, he wasn’t even given an opportunity to contact his lawyer. They grabbed him and threw him in police van and took him in custody. As the details of incident states the Maharashtra Police arrested Arnab for allegedly abetting suicide of a 53 year old interior designer, reported the PTI.
The cops entered his residence and took him in custody, though Mr. Arnab claimed that the police physically assaulted him. He was then taken to Raigad Police Station where the FIR against him was registered. The case related to the suicide of 53 year old interior designer Anvay Naik which was allegedly due to the non-payment of dues by Arnab Goswami. Though the case was closed earlier, the Maharashtra Minister said that he will order further investigation in 2020. Due to the arrest of Mr. Arnab lots of journalist got down on streets to protested against his arrested and demanded his release also claimed that by doing this the voices of media are stopped.
