Complaint filed before Delhi Court against Tandav for ridiculing Hindu religion, promoting enmity between religious groups

The web series Tandav has been accused for allegedly increasing ill feelings amongst different religious groups including Hindu groups. They have also been accused off targeting the Government of Uttar Pradesh and a complaint has been filed for the same. A founding member of Hindu Sena has initiated this complaint. Director Ali Abbas Zafar, Producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, and Writer Gaurav Solanki, as well as actors Saif Ali Khan, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub and Gauhar Khan have been targeted in this complaint and have been accused for committing offences under Sections 153A/295A/505(1)(b)/505(2) IPC and Sections 66/67A IT Act, 2000. A registration for an FIR against Aparna Purohit, Head of Amazon Original Content, India has also been sought for. The actors, director and producers have been accused off ridiculing the Hindu religion and giving rise to enmity among the groups. They have also been accused off mala fide and criminal intentions under the complaint. Actor Ayub portrays Lord Shiva in the first episode of the series and the same was considered as a mockery of the Hindu Gods and ridiculing the beliefs of the Hindus which included the complainant. It was also observed that the Uttar Pradesh Government has been portrayed as a system that does illegal encounters of the Muslims. This would give rise to a number of differences and a sense of hatred among the Hindus and the Muslims.
