Bombay High Court grants transit protection to Tandav creators, Amazon Prime India head in Lucknow FIR

Three weeks of transit anticipatory bail was granted to Tandav series director Abbas Ali Zafar, Producer of the series Himanshu Mehra, the writer Gaurav Solanki and also the Head of Amazon Originals Aparna Purohit by the Bombay High Court. This was related to the FIR lodged against them in Uttar Pradesh, when the applicants apprehended arrest by the Lucknow Police, Justice PD Naik was approached on 20th January which was Thursday. They asked for the anticipatory bail as they needed time to quash the FIR lodged against them on 17th January 2021. The arrest of the applicants was anticipated to take place in the near future. Urgent protection from the police was demanded by Senior Advocate Aabad Ponda and Advocate Aniket Nikam who were representing the applicants. The Objectionable material was in the process of being deleted from the series due to the controversy aswas informed to the court. The plea was vigorously opposed by the Public Prosecutor, Yogesh Nakhwa and stated that the Uttar Pradesh Court should be approached in this matter and not the Bombay High Court. The Court passed the judgement of granting three weeks of bail to approach the proper High Court in the matter after the hearing of both the sides.
