The bail for former CEO of broadcast audience research Council (BARC), Partho Dasgupta was rejected on Wednesday in TRP ( television rating points) Scam by a Sessions Court. He was arrested on 24th December for allegedly being involved in the scam and stayed in custody till 31st December. He was taken into judicial custody for two weeks after that. His appeal for bail was strongly opposed by Public Prosecutor Shishir Hirey when he laid out the points of Partho Dasgupta taking advantage of his post and misusing it. Chats between the former CEO of BARC and Arnab Goswami plotting to manipulate yhe number of the TRP of Republic TV Channels were also referred. The deterioration of Dasgupta’s health was used as a point by the Counsel appearing for the applicant, Advocate Shardul Singh. It was also emphasized that Dasgupta was not a part of the board which was the highest decision making authority. Also no cheating or breach of trust complaints were made by thr employees or the advertisers. It was also brought to the notice of the court that other members related to this case were granted bail. This Sessions Court appeal was Dasgupta’s second try to get bail after rhe Chief Metropolitan Magistrate rejected it the first time.
